We understand this concern and want to put your mind at ease in any way we can. That’s why we offer thorough chimney inspections before the purchase or sale of a home.

To perform this inspection, we will deploy a video camera inside the chimney, recording video and taking still photographs from deep inside the chimney. This will reveal any defects to the liner, including cracks, holes or defective installation. It’s important to keep in mind that repairs to a clay chimney liner typically cost $2500 and up. If you are going to purchase a home and you discover that the chimney has significant problems, you can use this report and photographic evidence to ask for concessions from the seller.

In addition to the chimney liner, we will also inspect the top of the chimney (crown), brickwork, mortar joints, ash pit and firebox and we’ll check to make sure the damper operates properly. When the inspection is complete, you will receive a report that includes the photographs to show with descriptions and recommended repairs.
